Orange County: the Offer of Ayurvedic Rejuvenation
The Orange County Resorts, part of the Ramapuram Holiday Resorts Ltd, sits in the idyllic ambience of coffee and spice plantations in the Western Ghats, almost 300 acres of verdant green, with a lake and river thrown in. With a holistic approach to hospitality, the premises include a ‘vaidyashala’ (an Ayurvedic & holistic therapy Centre) - Ayurveda Village, that incorporates professional treatments from both therapeutic and relaxing perspectives for the visitors at the resort. “The entire concept of this resort in Coorg revolves around bringing out the best in Kodava Heritage” informs Joydeep Bannerji, Manager, Operations, Orange County, Coorg.

The Ayurveda Village Spa

The Ayurveda Village includes 14 private pool villas, the ‘vaidyashala’ and the Plantain Leaf Restaurant that offers vegetarian food that can be tailored to the treatments being received at the treatment centre. The spa includes four treatment rooms, a beauty salon and offers a menu of 17 Orange County: the Offer of Ayurvedic Rejuvenation rejuvenating, therapeutic, weight management and beauty treatments. The‘Vaidyashala’ has a tie-up with Mysore based Indus Valley Ayurvedic Centre (IVAC) for treatments and supply of therapists. “We have 12 therapists, 6 male and 6 female and nearly 65% of our guests are females and 35% male” informs the resident vaidya (ayurvedic doctor) Dr.Rahvendra. Some favourites amongst treatments are‘Abhyanga’- a body massage with herbal medicated oil to remove toxins from the body, ‘shirodhara’- continuous stream of
oil, herbal decoction and medicated milk poured over the forehead for 20-40 minutes, ‘Sarvangadhara, ’ medicated oil/ milk is poured on the body in streams
and rubbed gently all over, and facials like the ‘Soundarya Vardhini’. The spa uses products- face packs, oils, shampoos by IVAC.
Served with extraordinary cordiality, the treatments become therapeutic from the
moment one enters the spa. Future The group plans to have six properties by 2010, of which the one at the Kabini forest resort would have a Vaidyashala. The treatments coupled with the stay at personal pool villas, the option of pure‘saatvic’ food goes a long way towards completely cleansing the mind and body.
