Jawed Habib Makes a Political Move – Joins BJP
Celebrity hairstylist joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) just a day ahead Phase 3 Lok Sabha polls on 23 April 2019. Speaking on the occasion. the renowned hair professional said, “Aaj tak main baalon ka chowkidar tha, aaj mein desh ka chowkidar ban gaya hoon.”
“I am happy to join the BJP as I have seen the changes brought in the country by Prime Minister Modi in the last five years. I think nobody should be ashamed of their background when the prime minister is proud to state that he was a ‘chaiwala’ then why should I be ashamed of calling myself a ‘nai’ (barber),” Habib told the news agency, ANI
The Lok Sabha election 2019 has seen an engaging battle for votes so far, with many celebrities making their political affinities public. Jawed Habib is not only a respected hairstylist but also owns a chain of 846 salons across 24 states and 110 cities, enjoying over 15 lakh customers.
“Jawed Habib’s political connections are way older than his candidature with the BJP,” reports businessinsider.in. “Habib’s grandfather used to work at the President’s office as a barber. He was also the official barber for Lord Mountbatten and Jawaharlal Nehru, the country’s first Prime Minister. His father, too, was the official stylist at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the President’s residence.”
