Kerala Govt. Launches ‘Ayur Shield’ Ayurveda Immunuty Clinics

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan recently inaugurated ‘Ayur Shield’, a chain of ayurvedic immunity clinics in the state, to promote Ayurveda’s importance in helping boost immunity during these COVID times, as well as to boost tourism with a ‘health destination’ tag. The website ayurvedcommunity.org was also launched on the occasion, to serve as a one-point source of information related to Ayur Shield. These clinics will function in all 6,000 ayurveda medical shops and 1,500 ayurveda clinics in the state, as speciality departments.

ayurvedacommunity.org is a not-for-profit initiative said to be created and managed entirely by volunteers. Students, academicians, clinicians, researchers and entrepreneurs of Ayurveda contribute the best of their resources to the platform.

“Ayur Shield will be an extension of government’s Ayur Raksha Clinics and will bolster efforts towards enhancing immunity among people as well as develop the sector in Kerala. The model will attract more people to these clinics and the data collected will be a proof to show how ayurveda has enhanced people’s immunity with scientific evidence,” said Dr P M Varier – Convenor, CII Ayurveda Panel and Chief Physician, Arya Vaidyasala, Kottakal.

The idea of Ayur Shield immunity clinics was conceptualised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with the support of ayurveda associations such as Ayurveda Medicine Manufacturers Association of India (AMMOI), Ayurveda Hospital Management Association (AHMA) and Ayurveda Management Association of India (AMAI).
